Nepali Congress General Secretary Urges Students to Build Confidence

Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma stated that students should not develop a mindset of "psychology of despair" that causes them to lose morale.

Speaking at the "Student Felicitation and Principal Honor Program" organized in Tarkeshwor Municipality, he highlighted the significant role of self-confidence and strong willpower in achieving success in life.

General Secretary Sharma said, “It is not your fault to be born poor, but to die poor is your incompetence. The thought that nothing can be done will never bring success. If you think you can, then you truly can. With firm determination in the mind, nothing is impossible.”

To inspire students, Sharma added, “Every individual has talent. Keep the belief that I can do something, I can become something.”

He also mentioned that while today’s children dream of becoming doctors and engineers, they do not aspire to become teachers or leaders, which he called a weakness of both society and leadership.

“What will society look like after 20 years without teachers and leaders? That is why every student must develop the spirit of coming into leadership and spreading education,” he stressed.

At the program, Tarkeshwor Municipality Mayor Krishna Hari Maharjan said that teachers are like lamps that burn themselves to bring light to others. He remarked that education uplifts culture and dignity.

Mayor Maharjan also called upon youths who dream of foreign study immediately after completing Grade 12 to have the courage to do something in their own country. He said, “The role of youth is extremely important in the social, economic, physical, and tourism development of the nation.”

Nepal Student Union President Dozang Sherpa said education is the strong foundation for building morality and demanded the establishment of a unified scholarship portal targeting students of all levels.

President Sherpa said, “Whether it is students in schools or those aspiring to study in foreign universities, we must ensure equal opportunity for all.”

At the program, Nepali Congress leader and former minister Bhimsen Das Pradhan stated that education is the medium of discipline.

The program, organized by the Nepal Student Union Tarkeshwor Municipal Committee, congratulated and honored more than 350 students who passed Grade 12 from community and institutional schools. Likewise, principals from 24 schools within Tarkeshwor area were also specially honored.

The event was attended by District President Krishna Baniya ‘Sabuja’, Deputy Mayor Sirjana Burlakoti, party’s regional and provincial presidents, central committee members, and convention representatives.

The program was chaired by Nepal Student Union Tarkeshwor Municipal Committee President Saurabh Kumar Karki and coordinated by Central Member and Discipline Committee Coordinator Paropakar Adhikari.
