
Meringden Rural Municipality Begins School Monitoring for Quality Education
Meringden Rural Municipality, Taplejung, has started monitoring schools to improve educational quality. Chairperson Dambar Hangam initiated the program to conduct monitoring in each school of the municipality.
In the first phase, monitoring was carried out at Shree Singhkali Secondary School of Ward No. 1, Thinglabu, and Shree Devi Basic School of Ward No. 4, Lingtep, according to the municipality’s Information Officer, Jiten Limbu. During the monitoring, the municipal team directly interacted with students and collected feedback regarding their studies.
Community Involvement
Similarly, the School Management Committee, Teachers’ Parent Association, and teachers were asked for suggestions and advice on measures to improve the quality of education. Necessary directives were also provided on behalf of the municipality. Chairperson Hangam checked the teachers’ attendance register as well as the students’ exercise books during the monitoring. He stated that any school within the municipality could be monitored at any time.
ICT and Security Initiatives
In Ward No. 6, Pandolung Secondary School of Nalbu; in Ward No. 5, Surke Secondary School of Thukima; and in Ward No. 3, Prithvi Secondary School, CCTV cameras have been installed. According to Information Officer Limbu, these installations were carried out for security as well as to support science labs, ICT labs, and other facilities. He further informed that smart boards have been installed in Prithvi Secondary School and Surke Secondary School to continue modern teaching practices.
Budget Allocation
The municipality, which has a total of 2,864 students, allocated a budget of NPR 2.5 million in the fiscal year 2081–082 under various headings. Likewise, for the current fiscal year, NPR 2.5 million has again been allocated, continuing previous programs and adding new plans.
