Mahendra Multiple Campus Dang Begins Demolition of Old Building

The dilapidated building of Mahendra Multiple Campus, Dang, one of the oldest educational institutions in the former Rapti area, has begun to be demolished.

Campus Chief Narayan Panthi stated that after the building became dilapidated, the required process was completed and demolition work has started. The 71-year-old building was constructed in 2016 BS. It was among the initial structures of Mahendra Multiple Campus, which was established on Magh 9, 2015 BS.

Demolition Through Tender Process

Given the long history associated with the building, a decision was made to demolish it through a tender process. The campus administration stated that Haribhakta Nirman Udyog has been assigned the responsibility to demolish the building for 1,980,000 rupees (excluding VAT).

New 36-Room Building Near Completion

While the old building is being demolished, a new, well-equipped 36-room building under construction on the campus has reached its final stage. Campus Accounts Chief Laxman Adhikari said the four-storey building is being constructed at a cost of approximately 100 million rupees.

He also stated that the building construction work, which began in the previous fiscal year 2075/076, is targeted to be completed within the current fiscal year 2082/083.

Academic Programs and Student Enrollment

At present, about 6,000 students are studying at the campus. According to Campus Administration Chief Manmantar Shah, teaching and learning at the bachelor’s level is being conducted in the faculties of Management, Education, Science, and Humanities, while at the master’s level, instruction is being provided in Political Science, Nepali, and English.
