Training on Educational and Teaching-Learning Material Development Begins in Phaktanglung

A training on educational and teaching-learning material development has started in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality, Taplejung. Organized by the Rural Education and Environment Development Center (REED Nepal), the training has begun for 154 teachers from three wards of the rural municipality.

The training, which started on Thursday, will run for seven days at Sinwa Secondary School located in Sinwa, Phaktanglung Rural Municipality–3.

Participants and Venue Details

Rajendra Prasad Pant, Taplejung Manager of REED Nepal, informed that the training has been jointly organized for teachers working in schools of the following wards:

  • Phaktanglung Rural Municipality–1, Sawadin

  • Phaktanglung Rural Municipality–2, Khejenim

  • Phaktanglung Rural Municipality–3, Lingkhim

REED Nepal’s Expanded Working Area

Amrita Thalang, Education Development Officer at REED Nepal, stated that these three wards have recently been included in REED Nepal’s working area after an expansion. She added that this is the first time such training has been organized for teachers in the service area following the expansion.

Before the expansion, REED Nepal had been working in schools in the following areas:

  • Phaktanglung Rural Municipality: Ward 4 Ikhabu, Ward 5 Tapethok, Ward 6 Lelep, Ward 7 Olangchung Gola

  • Sirijanga Rural Municipality: Ward 8 Yamphudin, Ward 7 Khewang, Ward 6 Mamakhe

Ongoing Programs in Northern Taplejung

With financial support from The Himalayan Trust UK and in coordination with Phaktanglung Rural Municipality, REED Nepal has been running programs in schools in the remote northern region of Taplejung. These programs include:

  • Infrastructure development

  • Capacity development
