Ministry Urges Reporting of Institutions Operating Foreign Educational Programs Without Permission
The Government of Nepal, Ministry of Education and Sports, has urged all stakeholders to provide information about educational institutions operating foreign educational programs without obtaining permission. The Ministry’s School Education Section, Singha Durbar, issued a notice on 2083 Asar 25 making this request.
Operation Without Permission and Misleading Publicity
According to the Ministry, there is a legal provision that school-level academic programs affiliated with foreign educational institutions must be operated only after obtaining permission from the Ministry. Such programs include:
However, the Ministry has stated that some educational institutions are operating such academic programs without permission, contrary to the prevailing legal provisions. The notice also mentions that reports have appeared through various media stating that students and parents are being misinformed through publicity claiming permission has been obtained for programs that have not actually received permission.
Request to Provide Information by Email Within Three Days
If any educational institution is found operating a foreign educational program without permission, the Ministry has requested written information about such institutions. Stakeholders must provide the information within three days through the email address of the Ministry’s School Education Section: schooledu.sec@moest.gov.np.
