10 Low-Enrolment Schools Merged in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Gorkha

Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality in Gorkha has merged 10 schools with extremely low student numbers into nearby larger schools.

The rural municipality decided to merge the schools through an executive meeting held on Jestha 22.

According to Rajendra Khanal, Chief of the Education Section of the rural municipality, the step was taken with the objective of improving educational quality, ensuring effective management of resources, and bringing economy in school operating expenses.

Details of Merged Schools

The detailed list of which school has been merged into which institution is as follows:

  • Laxmi Basic School and Indra Basic School of Bakrang, Ward No. 1, have been merged into Mahendra Shakti Secondary School.

  • Sahid Sandesh Basic School of Ward No. 4 has been merged into Maharudra Basic School.

  • Chandrakala Basic School of Ward No. 6 has been merged into Bhagwati Himalaya Secondary School.

  • Durga Basic School of Ward No. 6 has been merged into Jaldevi Secondary School of Ward No. 5.

  • Jalkanya Basic School has been merged into Chandika Basic School, while Mandali Basic School has been merged into Himalaya Secondary School.

  • Kalika Amarjyoti Basic School and Jaldevi Basic School of Ward No. 9 have been merged into Bhimsen Basic School and Janashakti Secondary School, respectively.

  • Dahale Basic School of Ward No. 8 has been merged into Rameshwari Secondary School, according to the rural municipality.

Early Childhood Classes to Continue at the Same Locations

Arrangements have been made to run early childhood classes at the same locations of the merged schools to ensure continuity of early education.

Education Section Chief Khanal informed that these schools will now operate as units under the main schools.
