University of Nepal to Run Bachelor-Level Programs from This Academic Session
The University of Nepal, which began operations two years ago, is set to run classes in various bachelor-level programs for the first time from this academic session.
Established in 2081 BS as a public university with the objective of running academic programs of a different stream from the universities currently operating in the country, the university has been conducting the postgraduate-level Public Policy program under the School of Public Policy since last year.
According to the university’s Registrar Dr. Suryaraj Acharya, bachelor-level programs will also be run from this academic session. At the bachelor’s level, classes will be conducted in subjects including computer and data science, physics, chemistry, biology and earth science, economics and finance, literature, mass communication, and media studies.
The university is preparing to run these programs under the School of Arts, Science and Technology. A provision has been made so that students who have studied any subject in Grade 12 can easily enroll in these programs.
University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arjun Karki said the university was established with the objective of developing creative and critical awareness among students, along with the skilled human resources required for the country. Vice-Chancellor Karki also informed that agreements have been signed for collaboration with various distinguished national and international academic institutions to develop students’ learning capacity.
The university, operated under the Nepal University Act, 2081 BS, is established as a public, autonomous, and non-profit academic institution. Renowned personalities from national and international fields are involved in the operation of the university.
According to sources, 15 federal universities and six provincial universities are currently operating in the country.
