School of Health Science Bharatpur Chitwan Ends Full-Fee Quota, Increases Full Scholarships
The School of Health Science, Chitwan, a constituent school of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), has abolished the system under which students had been studying under the full-fee quota.
The full-fee quota has been removed and the number of students eligible to study on full scholarships has been increased so that more students can get access to technical education.
School of Health Science Bharatpur Chief Suman Paudel said that in previous years, 26 students had been studying under the full-fee category, and that arrangement has now been removed and the same number has been added to full scholarships.
A student studying under the full-fee category at CTEVT’s constituent school in Bharatpur had been paying Rs. 133,000 over three years. According to Chief Paudel, from the coming year, all those seats have been converted into full scholarships.
Until last year, only 24 students were allowed to study on full scholarships. From the coming academic session, 24 more students will be added, allowing 48 students to study free of cost.
Under the three-year diploma level, the school has been running programs including HA, Pharmacy, Lab, Dental, Radiography, and Physiotherapy.
From the coming year, students other than scholarship recipients will have to pay between Rs. 48,000 and Rs. 52,000 at a subsidized rate to study these subjects for three years. However, it is stated that studying the same subject at a private technical school can cost up to Rs. 175,000 for one year.
The school has also arranged an additional 20 percent scholarship. According to Paudel, 10 percent will be provided on the recommendation of the provincial office, while the remaining 10 percent has been arranged as a special scholarship with accommodation.
According to the school, out of the total quota of 242 students, 48 students will now study on full scholarships.

In Chitwan district, among the constituent schools under CTEVT, health-related teaching has been taking place at the School of Health Science, civil engineering at Narayani Polytechnic Institute, hotel management at Bharatpur Polytechnic Institute, and Pharmacy, Civil Engineering, and Animal Science at Diwakar Polytechnic Institute in Madi.
Established in 2054 BS, the school initially taught only General Medicine (HA) under technical education in its early years. At present, six programs are being run at the school.
Chief Paudel said that the school, which is the oldest in the district, has had 3,860 students so far.
More than a dozen private technical schools are operating in the district. Kalika Medical and Technical Institute Chief Dhruva Prasad Kafle said that the number of students studying technical subjects has been increasing every year, especially because such programs can lead to employment and self-employment after study within a short period.
