Sitaram Secondary School and Sun Moon University Sign Educational Cooperation MoU
Sitaram Secondary School, located in Ramkot, Nagarjun Municipality–6, Kathmandu, and Sun Moon University of South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand educational cooperation. Under the agreement, the two institutions will undertake activities related to academic, technical and arts programmes, technical skills development, creative arts, and talent showcases.
According to a press statement issued by Sun Moon University, the cooperation aims to develop students’ creativity, leadership abilities, spirit of service, and social responsibility by identifying local problems and exploring possible solutions. It also seeks to contribute to building an inclusive society through multicultural exchange and mutual understanding.
As part of the initiative, a 28-member team of students and staff from South Korea has arrived in Nepal to play an active role in educational support, volunteering, leadership development, and the expansion of cultural relations. The team will conduct various programmes in cooperation with Nagarjun Municipality and local schools.
Participants and Recognition
The MoU programme was held with Acting Mayor of Nagarjun Municipality Sushila Adhikari as the chief guest and Ward No. 6 Chairperson Devendra Raj Giri as the chair of the event.
Nagarjun Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Ganesh Prasad Aryal, municipal spokesperson Mahesh Rimal, Education Section Chief Krishna Bahadur Kunwar, and Sitaram Secondary School Principal Pradeep Puri attended the programme.
Sun Moon University was represented by delegation leader Prof. Yun Cho Yun Yi, Director Young-Sun Oh, interpreter Tenzin Norbu Lama, and social worker Keshav Shrestha, among others.
On the same occasion, the school administration honoured and expressed its sincere gratitude to various individuals and institutions that had contributed to the school’s academic and physical development.
Speakers at the programme expressed confidence that cooperation among the local government, a community school, and an international educational institution would contribute significantly to improving the quality of community schools, supporting students’ personal development, facilitating the exchange of experiences, and creating international-standard educational opportunities.
Canteen Inauguration and Special Meeting
Following the formal programme, the newly constructed canteen at Sitaram Secondary School was inaugurated in the presence of the head of the Sun Moon University delegation.
A special meeting was also held among the school administration, municipal representatives, and university officials. The meeting included detailed discussions on future educational partnerships, student and teacher exchange programmes, and community development.

‘Global Community’ International Volunteer Programme
Sun Moon University also provided information about the activities to be conducted in Nepal under its “Global Community” international volunteer programme.
