Students of Janata Secondary School in Rajdevi Municipality-4 of Rautahat District have staged a protest against the school administration. The students have staged an 11-point demand saying that the school has raised various fees against the rules by making various excuses against the rules. The students allege that the school principal Prabhash Thakur has been charging fees in violation of the provision of compulsory and free education even though the community school has banned the school from charging any fee for education up to secondary level. The condition of the schools is deteriorating after the schools have been shifted under the municipality.
Parents have complained that the situation has deteriorated in the school as the responsible person of the municipality has not carried out regular monitoring and inspection. The students have complained that the teachers who do not come to school on time come back from outside even though they come to school. The students have stated that they are compelled to protest as there is a problem due to lack of regular reading. The students also accused the city education coordinator of negligence in improving the condition of the school.
The students said that they were protesting against the increased irregularities in the school and the attitude of the teachers. Non-refundable fees should be refunded, classrooms should be fully operational daily, classrooms including laboratory should be properly arranged, clean drinking water should be provided in the school, separate toilets should be operated for students, classes should be conducted by subject teachers, headmaster, The teachers have put forward demands including change in the attitude of the teachers and the need to conduct the classes on time.
The agitating students have put forward 11-point demands including provision of playgrounds and materials to boost the morale of the students physically and mentally, provision of nutritious food / lunch to the students, extra-curricular activities including one day debating competition.
