The Everest Dream Wins Special Jury Award in Shimla

Nepali Documentary ‘The Everest Dream’ Wins Special Jury Short Documentary Award in Shimla

Nepali documentary “The Everest Dream” has won the Special Jury Short Documentary Award at the 12th International Film Festival of Shimla, held in Shimla, India. Directed and produced by Ganesh Pandey, the film secured the award while competing with international documentaries from around the world.

At the award ceremony, Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta and festival director Pushpraj Thakur presented the award to director Pandey.

Story and Main Message

The documentary tells the story of British citizens facing various challenges in life after suffering serious brain injuries and their adventurous journey to Everest Base Camp.

The film follows a seven-member team led by James Lamb, including five brain injury survivors, on their journey to Everest Base Camp. It covers their experiences from rigorous training that began in Scotland to their Himalayan journey after arriving in Nepal.

According to director Pandey, the film’s main message is that even after experiencing a serious injury or hardship in life, people can dream again and fulfil those dreams.

Earlier, “The Everest Dream” had also won the Best Documentary Award at the Cobb International Film Festival in Georgia, United States.
