Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has emphasized that Lumbini Buddhist University should move forward with a distinct identity that sets it apart from other universities.
Addressing a welcome program organized by the university on Friday, Minister Pokharel said the university’s core purpose should remain focused on promoting Buddhist philosophy and indigenous knowledge. Priority on Buddhist Philosophy and Research
Minister Pokharel said that the university, established in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, should focus more strongly on its original purpose rather than concentrating primarily on conventional academic disciplines.
He urged the university not to limit itself to conventional subjects such as engineering and science, but to prioritize the study, research, and promotion of Buddhist philosophy and related fields.
He also emphasized the need to use the university as a platform to introduce Buddhist philosophy, indigenous knowledge, and Nepal’s native identity to the wider world.
Minister Urges University Not to Deviate From Its Core Purpose

He advised the university to maintain its distinct identity while also moving forward through cooperation with other educational institutions.
The program also discussed the university’s potential to present Nepal’s originality and indigenous knowledge to the international community.
