TU IoST Completes One-Day Training on Research Ethics

Kirtipur, Kathmandu | February 11, 2026 [2082 Magh 28 (BS)].

The Institute of Science and Technology has completed a one-day training programme on conduct to be followed in research.

The programme was inaugurated under the chief guestship of Prof. Dr. Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki, Chairperson of the Research Ethics Review Board. The programme was chaired by the Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Shankar Prasad Khanal.

In his remarks, Chairperson Budhathoki highlighted the importance of research ethics review at Tribhuvan University and shared information on past efforts related to developing procedures and forming the Research Ethics Review Board.

At the programme, Pramod Joshi, Member-Secretary of the Nepal Health Research Council, along with Dr. Hariprasad Dhakal and Namita Ghimire of the Council, delivered presentations on the procedures adopted by the Nepal Health Research Council and the methods of research ethics review.

From the Institute of Science and Technology, Dean Shankar Prasad Khanal, Assistant Dean Dr. Komalraj Rijal, Research Ethics Committee Chairperson Sangeeta Rajbhandari, and committee members Prof. Dr. Srijanlal Shrestha, Dr. Meghraj Banjara, and Dr. Supriya Sharma, among others, presented on the institute’s research status, the need for research ethics review, its procedures, and the current state of research review.

Department heads and teachers from the central departments under the Institute of Science and Technology participated in the programme. Participants stated that the programme was successful in making everyone aware of the conduct to be followed in research and that such programmes should continue in the coming days.

The programme was held at the seminar hall of the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Balkhu.
