
An agreement has been reached between the Ministry of Health and Population and Tribhuvan University (TU) to provide medical treatment facilities to TU students and professors at federal hospitals and institutions.
According to the agreement signed in the presence of Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel and TU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khadga KC, TU students and professors will receive treatment services at all federal hospitals and institutions, with 90% covered by TU’s Medical Treatment Fund and 10% paid by the individual.
Health Insurance Encouragement Included in the Deal
The agreement also states that TU will encourage both students and professors to enroll in health insurance.
During the program, Minister Paudel mentioned that the government has already decided to enroll everyone associated with organized sectors into the Health Insurance Fund. He urged TU to ensure that all its members are enrolled soon and benefit from health insurance coverage. He expressed confidence that TU would complete the necessary preparations quickly.
Health Insurance Expansion and Policy Reform
Minister Paudel emphasized the need to expand resources and implement policy reforms to enhance the effectiveness of the health insurance program. He noted that the inclusion of TU professors and students would send a positive message across the nation.
Commitment to Implementation and Future Cooperation
Dilliram Sharma, Secretary at the Ministry of Health, expressed confidence in the effective implementation of the agreement. TU Vice-Chancellor Dr. KC stated that the process to enroll in health insurance has already begun and that a task force will be formed for this purpose. He also shared that TU and the Ministry plan to strengthen their collaboration further in the fields of education and health.
