Budhanilkantha School Scholarship Exam Notice

Under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, a notice has been published for scholarship selection from among meritorious children from disadvantaged communities for residential study from Class 5 at Budhanilkantha School, Kathmandu, and schools participating in the partnership program, either free of cost or at a subsidized fee.

Students will be selected through an interview based on the merit order of the written competitive examination, ensuring representation of geographic regions and target communities.

Selection Basis

Students must have been born between April 14, 2015 (2072-01-01 BS) and April 13, 2017 (2073-12-31 BS).

They must have regularly studied in a community school in the district where the guardian resides, or in a neighboring district, in at least Class 3 and Class 4, and must have completed Class 4 in the academic session 2081.

Selection will be made from among eligible boys and girls through interview on the basis of merit obtained in the written competitive examination.

The application form must be downloaded from bnks.edu.np, cehrd.gov.np, or moest.gov.np, filled out properly, certified and recommended as specified in the form, and submitted with the required documents to the examination center assigned for the applicant’s district.

The application form may also be obtained from the education section of the local government.

Syllabus

The question paper will be prepared on the basis of the expected learning competencies of the basic level curriculum of Class 4.

It will be based on the subject areas of Social Studies, Mathematics, Nepali, Science, and English.

The question paper will include objective questions carrying 78/80 marks and subjective questions carrying 12/12 marks, making a total of 100 full marks.

Examination Duration: 2 hours

Pass Mark: 35

Open and Reserved Seats for Budhanilkantha School

Girls’ Share: 50 percent

(a) A total of 40 students will be selected under open and reserved categories combined, with not more than one student selected from one district.

(b) Reserved seats are as follows:

  • Endangered Communities: 2

  • Dalit: 4

  • Muslim: 1

  • Madhesi: 4

  • Janajati: 5

  • Backward Area: 2

(c) From Budhanilkantha Municipality, where the school is located, 2 students will be selected: 1 boy and 1 girl.

Seats for Partnership Program Schools

Under the partnership program, a total of 77 students will be selected, as available, ensuring that districts are not repeated as far as possible.

The reservation distribution is as follows:

  • Dalit: 5

  • Muslim: 2

  • Madhesi: 6

  • Janajati: 9

  • Children from martyr and conflict-affected families, and from families of those who died during foreign employment: 1

  • Girls: at least 26

Documents to Be Submitted with the Application

(1) The following documents must be submitted with the prescribed application form:

  • Certified Application Form: Application form completed with the required details and certified by the concerned headteacher and the education chief of the local level

  • Recommendation of Poverty Status: Recommendation letter from the local level stating the monthly income of the father, mother, or guardian

  • Birth Registration Certificate: Birth registration certificate of the student issued by the local registrar

  • Relationship Verification Letter: Letter from the local level showing the relationship between the guardian and the student

  • Citizenship Copy: Copy of the Nepali citizenship certificate of the parent or guardian

Clarification: Guardian means grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, elder brother, or elder sister.

  • Class 3 Study Recommendation: If the student studied Class 3 and Class 4 in different schools, a recommendation from the headteacher of the school where the student studied Class 3, including the student’s EMIS No.

  • Reservation Recommendation Letter: Applicants seeking candidacy under reserved categories must submit recommendation letters from the following bodies:

    • For Janajati: National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities or the concerned District Administration Office

    • For Dalit: National Dalit Commission or the concerned District Administration Office

    • For Madhesi Community: Madhesi Commission or the concerned District Administration Office

    • For Muslim Community: Muslim Commission or the concerned District Administration Office

    • For disappeared persons, martyr families, injured persons, or their children: Ministry of Home Affairs or the concerned District Administration Office

    • For backward remote areas: Recommendation from the concerned local level stating that the family has permanent residence in that area up to now and that the student studied Class 3 and Class 4 in a community school

(2) On the prescribed dates at the designated examination center, the concerned guardian must submit the application form and required documents to the examination management team.

Important Points While Filling the Form

(1) Any form that is not properly completed will automatically be canceled.

(2) Candidates will not be allowed to sit for the examination at centers other than those assigned for their district. District means the district where the community school in which the student is studying in Class 4 is located.

(3) If one child of the concerned guardian is already studying at Budhanilkantha School, another child of that guardian will not be granted a scholarship at Budhanilkantha School.

(4) Children of guardians having a monthly income of Rs. 50,000 or more, or children of employees working in the Government of Nepal at the rank of Under Secretary or equivalent and above, are not eligible to participate in the scholarship selection examination.

(5) Children of Government of Nepal Gazetted Third Class civil servants or equivalent public employees, teachers, and staff, including those of institutions, if selected, will receive a 50 percent concession in monthly fees.

Children of non-gazetted public employees or equivalent and those below that level, including teachers and staff of institutions, if selected, will receive a 70 percent concession in monthly fees.
