Overview
Melamchi-Ghyang Secondary School (श्री मेलम्ची घ्यांङ्ग माध्यमिक विद्यालय, सिन्धुपाल्चोक) was established in 1985 AD (2042 BS) as a community-based school located in Helambu, Sindhupalchok, Nepal. Most of the people in this region are from the Hyolmo community. They are the Himalayan indigenous people of Nepal. The Hyolmo have poor living conditions; both remote and difficult to access, with little in the way of the formal education system. To address this issue Melamchi Ghyang School was established in 1985. The school now has 250 students, 150 live in hostels attached to the school. Its catchment area is both broad and diverse. Some students come from Kathmandu for the education, which the school offer.
Melamchi Ghyang Secondary School is affiliated to the National Examination Board (NEB) and approved by the Ministry of Education. It offers educational programs from the Secondary level. It provides up to secondary level education with moderate fee structures and also provides a scholarship scheme for financially weak and deserving students.
