Nepal Army Invites Applications for 280 Officer Cadet Positions
The Nepal Army has invited applications to fill vacant Officer Cadet (Second Lieutenant/Lieutenant) positions through open and inclusive competition. The Recruitment Selection Directorate, Army Headquarters, published this notice for the first time on 2083/04/29, informing eligible Nepali citizens to complete the online application form, print it, and submit the application in person along with the printed copy.

2. Application Dates, Time, and Place
Application period with regular fee: From 2083/04/29 to 2083/05/18.
Application period with double fee: From 2083/05/19 to 2083/05/25.
Applications must be submitted within office hours. If the final application date falls on a public holiday, applications may be submitted on the next working day after that date.
3. Application Fee
All candidates must compulsorily apply under the open category and pay an application fee of Rs. 1,000 (one thousand).
Candidates applying under an inclusive category must pay an additional 20%, equivalent to Rs. 200, for each additional group.
The fee must be deposited by entering the name of the Recruitment Selection Center where the candidate is applying, the office code, bank account number, and revenue heading number.
The candidate must personally submit the original bank voucher and one photocopy of the voucher along with the application form.

5. Required Qualifications
(a) Educational Qualification
For Certificate Level or equivalent (Class 12):
Candidates must have passed the Certificate Level or 10+2 from a recognized institution.
For certificates issued before the implementation of the Letter Grading Directive, 2078, candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2/CGPA of 1.6 or above, and no subject may have a grade lower than D+.
For certificates issued in accordance with the 2078 directive, candidates must have a GPA of 1.6 or above.
For Bachelor's Level or equivalent:
Candidates must have passed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Mandatory condition: Regardless of whether the candidate's educational qualification is Certificate Level or Bachelor's Level, Mathematics must have been taken as a compulsory subject in the SEE examination.
Training duration: The military basic training period for graduate Officer Cadets will be 12 months.
(b) Physical Qualifications
Male:

Eyesight for both: If spectacles are used, the eye power must not exceed ±2.
(c) Other Qualifications
Candidates must:

Be declared fit through a medical examination.

Not have been convicted of a criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
-
Not be a member of any political party.
-
Not have been involved in any criminal activity.
-
Not have been punished for human rights violations.
-
Not have been dismissed in a manner that disqualifies them from future government service.
6. Age Limit
For Certificate Level (Class 12) or equivalent:
Candidates must have completed 18 years of age and must not have exceeded 21 years as of the final application date, 2083/05/18.
Date of birth: From 2062/05/18 to 2065/05/18.
For Bachelor's Level or equivalent:
Candidates must have completed 18 years of age and must not have exceeded 24 years as of 2083/05/18.
Date of birth: From 2059/05/18 to 2065/05/18.
For serving military candidates:
Candidates must not have exceeded 26 years of age as of the final application date, 2083/05/18.
They must have been born on or after 2057/05/18.
7. Additional Conditions for Serving Nepal Army Candidates
Serving candidates must have completed military basic training.
They must also have completed a minimum of two years of service as of the final application date, 2083/05/18, and must submit a recommendation from their Unit Commander.
8. Required Certificates and Documents
Candidates must self-certify and submit one copy of each required document in a Nepali file. Documents containing erasures or overwriting will not be accepted. Original documents must also be brought for verification.
Required documents include:

Nepali Citizenship Certificate.

SEE grade sheet/mark sheet, character certificate, and original/provisional certificate.

Certificate Level/Class 12 transcript, character certificate, and original/provisional certificate.

For Bachelor's degree holders: transcript, character certificate, and original/provisional certificate.

Candidates who have obtained qualifications from boards or universities outside Nepal must submit an equivalency certificate issued by the Curriculum Development Centre or Tribhuvan University.

Certificates obtained in areas other than academic qualifications, including extracurricular activities and various other fields.

For children of military personnel who died or became disabled during military training or in the line of duty: certification of martyrdom/disability, relationship verification, pension document, or certified copy specifying martyrdom/death/disability in the line of duty, along with a recommendation letter from the Military Board in the case of serving personnel.

One copy of the document certifying the candidate's relationship with the concerned person.
9. Photographs
Candidates must submit:

Four recent passport-size photographs clearly showing the full face, including both ears.

One 2x2-size photograph.
Serving military personnel must have the photographs taken in uniform.
10. Contact Date
Candidates must report at 11:00 AM on 2083/05/31 to the respective Recruitment Selection Center where they submitted their application.
11. Selection Process
The candidate selection examination will include:

Except for the preliminary selection, the other examinations will be conducted at locations designated by the Recruitment Selection Directorate.
12. Salary, Allowances, Rations, and Other Benefits
Salary, allowances, rations, and other facilities will be provided in accordance with the prevailing rules and provisions of the Nepal Army.
13. Other Conditions

Candidates employed by the Government of Nepal or any other institution must compulsorily submit departmental approval.

Candidates applying under inclusive categories may compete under only one community category. However, this restriction will not apply to women. In addition, male and female candidates from backward areas may also compete under the Backward Area quota.

Women will be included in Combat Related Duties, Combat Support, and Combat Service Support, except in units assigned Direct Combat Duties/Close Combat Roles, meaning duties that involve directly fighting on the front line during combat.

Candidates must be unmarried and may not marry during the training period, except for serving military personnel.

Candidates may apply through only one Recruitment Selection Center.
14. Information on Completing the Online Application Form
Candidates must visit the Nepal Army's official portal at https://vacancy.nepalarmy.mil.np, go to the RECENT VACANCY section, locate the advertisement for the Officer Cadet position, and click APPLY.
After entering personal, family, and educational details, candidates must click Submit, make the online payment through the payment gateway, and print the payment voucher and personal details form.
The printed form, voucher, and other required documents must then be personally submitted to the selected center within the prescribed period.
An application submitted only online will not be accepted.

15. Special Notice
In accordance with the writ of mandamus issued by the Honorable Supreme Court on 2079/10/24 in certiorari petitions, including Writ No. 078-WO-0382, in which the Nepal Army, Recruitment Selection Directorate, and others were named as respondents, necessary legal arrangements are to be made concerning inclusive groups.
After such legal arrangements are made, compensation for positions actually lost because they were not included from FY 079/80 onward will be handled as provided by law, based on the proportion of positions falling under inclusive groups out of the total number of positions determined thereafter.
For the present, this notice has been published to fill the positions in accordance with the prevailing law.
