NMC Calls Applications from Specialist Physicians for Expert Roster
The Nepal Medical Council is preparing an official “Expert Roster” to obtain impartial and scientific opinions on complaints registered with the Professional Conduct and Health Committee, incidents related to violations of the medical code of conduct, and specialized subjects.
Through a notice issued on 2083/02/01, the Council stated that it has adopted a policy of mobilizing experts through an automated Random Selection system by including qualified specialists from within the Kingdom of Nepal.
According to the notice, specialist physicians with the prescribed qualifications who wish to be included in the Council’s new and transparent system must fill out the online form or submit an application within 7 days from the date of publication of the notice.
Minimum Qualifications
Specialist physicians must have Specialist Registration with the Nepal Medical Council and must not be under any action related to violation of ethical or professional conduct.
They must have at least 10 years of work experience in the relevant specialty after obtaining an MD/MS/MDS or equivalent specialist degree approved by the Nepal Medical Council in the concerned discipline, or must be working in an academic field as an Associate Professor or in a higher position.
The Council stated that priority will be given to specialists who meet the above qualifications and have received basic/advanced training in Bio-ethics, Medical Ethics, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), or a related area, or who have experience working in a recognized Institutional Review Committee (IRC).
