Practical Action Consulting (PAC) is a not for profit distributing development consulting arm of Practical Action with over 40 years of international experience. PAC takes the lessons learned from the work of Practical Action and pushes them out across a much broader geographic region in pursuit of scale and influence. It is providing high quality consulting services in the use of technology for poverty reduction to governments, NGOs, donors and the private sector. PAC seeks to recruit the following personnel for its office in Kathmandu, Nepal.
1. Technical Expert:
Reporting to the PAC Regional Manager, the position shall champion technical aspects of PAC's Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) work in Nepal and South Asia region, and developing and delivering consulting assignments contributing to Change Ambition of Practical Action. S/he will support the team to increase the quantity, quality and impact of Practical Action's DRR work with a particular focus on flood resilience, early warning, landslides and climate services.
The candidate should have a Master's degree in hydrology/meteorology, DRR, Climate Change (CC), resilience or in other related disciplines with at least five years of work experience in research, data analysis, modeling among others.
2. Research Associate:
Reporting to the Programme Officer — DRR and CC, this position shall support in the development and implementation of PAC's work, DDR and, cc, specifically in research, knowledge capture, project development, and consultation
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in related field preferably in hydrology/ meteorology, environmental science, DRR, CC, resilience or in other related disciplines with the preference of at least two years of experience in hydro/meteorology/risk and hazard sectors (landslide and flood research).
