Notice Regarding Application for Undergraduate Study Under University of Nepal
Skilled and competitive human resources play an important role in the social and economic development of the nation. For this, the country’s educational institutions need to revise their curricula and academic activities in line with the times, assimilate practical knowledge, and address the existing Knowledge/Skill Deficit in higher education. If effective coordination can be established among curriculum, skill development, and market demand, and quality education and practical knowledge can be ensured, Nepali students aspiring for higher education will be encouraged to study within the country and use the knowledge they acquire for national development.
Learning from the strengths and weaknesses of the universities currently operating in the country, and adopting the basic principles and new values of contemporary global higher education systems, University of Nepal was established in BS 2081 (2024 AD) with the objective of becoming a standard in the field of higher education in Nepal. Established by an Act passed by the Federal Parliament of Nepal, this university is a public, autonomous, and non-profit academic institution.
University of Nepal has a long-term goal of becoming a Centre of Excellence in higher education by preparing future leaders, thinkers, experts, professionals, entrepreneurs, and agents of change in various fields needed for building a prosperous nation. The institution is conducting various academic programs by placing flexibility in subject selection according to students’ interests, promotion of interdisciplinary study, student-centered teaching-learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship at the center. Students of this university will acquire subject-specific theoretical knowledge and practical skills and will also be prepared as prudent and responsible citizens. During their studies, they will be encouraged to deeply reflect on ethical, cultural, and human values in addition to technical and factual information. Along with this, their independent and critical thinking, creativity, and evidence-based analytical capacity will be developed.
The university aims to provide quality higher education to students living in remote and rural areas of Nepal, as well as to marginalized communities, castes, classes, genders, and economically disadvantaged students, and to involve them, after their studies, in the process of making the country strong, advanced, and prosperous through their knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Applications have been invited for the upcoming Fall Semester, 2026 AD, for undergraduate programs in various disciplines under science and technology, humanities, and social sciences, to be taught through innovative teaching methods. Therefore, all concerned are invited to benefit from the undergraduate academic programs that this university is going to launch.

Students interested in admission to various undergraduate disciplines must fulfill the following conditions:
Minimum Required Qualifications
a) In the case of Nepali citizens, citizenship certificate or national identity card.
b) In the case of foreign citizens, an official certificate indicating nationality.
c) Must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized educational institution. If the results have not yet been published, applicants may participate in the entrance examination and take Conditional Admission.
d) The applicant must also attach a Statement of Purpose (SOP) with the application form.
Application Process
Applicants must visit the University of Nepal website, https://unepal.edu.np/, and submit the application by uploading electronic copies (soft copies) of the academic certificates mentioned in the Application Form and a photograph. The Admit Card will be sent to the applicant by email. Candidates must compulsorily bring the Admit Card when coming to the examination hall. If any technical problem occurs while filling out the form, the university’s admission section may be contacted.
Entrance Examination Fee: Three hundred rupees (Rs. 300) only

Selection Criteria
The following criteria have been set for student selection:
– Academic qualification: marks obtained in Grade 12 or equivalent examination
– Marks obtained in the entrance examination
– Marks obtained in SOP evaluation
– Marks obtained in the oral interview
The final Merit List will be published on the basis of the Weighted Average of the marks obtained in all the above points. Student admission will be based on merit.
Type of Examination
The entrance examination will include a written examination, SOP presentation, and oral interview. The written examination will test the applicant’s understanding of life and the world, intellectual ability, reasoning, curiosity and commitment toward the subject, original thinking, and expressive ability. The entrance examination will be based on the following subject contexts:

Note: To enroll in the university, students must participate in the entrance examination and pass both the written and oral examinations. Student admission will be based on merit.

Other Information
– Applications received after the deadline, not duly completed, or found to be missing the certificates that must be attached with the application will not be accepted.
– If fake or forged certificates are found to have been submitted, the university may cancel the admission at any time.
