Himshikhar Multiple Campus, known in Nepali as हिमशिखर बहुमुखी क्याम्पस, रामघाट, सूर्खेत, is a community-owned campus located in Ramghat, Surkhet, Karnali Pradesh. Established in 2012 AD (2069 BS), the campus serves students from Bheriganga Municipality and nearby areas through bachelor-level education in Education and Management.

The campus is affiliated with Tribhuvan University and approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Nepal. Its academic programs are centered on Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS), both offered as full-time bachelor-level programs under TU.

Institutional Background

Himshikhar Multiple Campus began through local initiative and public support in Ramghat. For its operation, the physical infrastructure of Shikhar Secondary School, Ramghat, Surkhet, was used according to decisions of the then Ramghat VDC Village Council for fiscal years 2067/068 and 2068/069.

The campus received affiliation from Tribhuvan University through a letter dated 2069/4/14. From 2069/8/17, the three-year Bachelor of Education faculty began with 47 students. The Management faculty later received affiliation through a TU letter dated 2070/8/19, and classes began with 21 students.

Financial and community support has been part of the campus history. A loan of Rs. 500,000 was received from the then Village Education Committee, Ramghat. In the initial stage, social worker Mr. Toyanath Sharma of Lekbeshi Municipality Ward No. 4 helped arrange books worth around Rs. 84,000 through his sons Dhaniram Sharma and Hariprasad Sharma.

The campus has also passed through a major infrastructure transition. Physical infrastructure worth around Rs. 36,500,000 was prepared with support from Bheriganga Municipality, UGC, the federal government, the Karnali Province government, and other government bodies. Those structures were later handed over to Mid-Western University for the operation of the Central Campus of Agricultural Science and the Dean’s Office under an agreement involving Bheriganga Municipality, the all-party committee, representatives of Karnali Province, the Campus Management Committee, and Mid-Western University.

A new phase of infrastructure construction is underway for Himshikhar Multiple Campus on municipal land near the service center in Bheriganga Municipality-11. For this construction, Rs. 5,000,000 was received from UGC and Rs. 3,500,000 from Bheriganga Municipality in fiscal year 2079/080. A further Rs. 5,000,000 was received from Bheriganga Municipality in fiscal year 2080/081.

Academic Programs Offered

Himshikhar Multiple Campus conducts bachelor-level teaching and learning in the faculties of Education and Management. The campus follows the curriculum approved by Tribhuvan University.

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
  The B.Ed. program is offered under the Education stream. English, Nepali, Economics, and Health and Physical subjects are taught in the Education stream at the campus. Under the TU four-year B.Ed. annual system, students study communication skills, professional core courses, specialization major courses, specialization minor courses, and teaching internship/practicum.

• Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS)
  The BBS program is offered under the Management stream. The TU BBS curriculum follows a four-year annual system with compulsory courses, core business studies, concentration courses, business research methods, and final project work. TU BBS concentration areas include Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing.

Admission Process

• Admission to bachelor-level programs under Tribhuvan University follows the regulations of the respective faculty, Dean’s Office, and campus.

• Eligible applicants submit the prescribed application form with required academic documents after the admission notice is published.

• Admission may include an entrance examination, merit-based selection, or both, depending on the program or campus policy.

• Selected candidates complete admission by submitting the required documents and paying the prescribed fees.

• B.Ed. applicants need Grade 12, HSE, PCL, or an equivalent qualification, with subject-specific requirements for different specialization areas.

• BBS applicants need 10+2 in business/commerce or an equivalent qualification recognized by TU, or other eligibility conditions prescribed by the Faculty Board or campus.

• Academic registration, examinations, and results follow TU rules, guidelines, and the applicable academic calendar.

Teaching Faculty and Learning Methodology

Himshikhar Multiple Campus has teaching and non-teaching human resources working across academic and administrative roles. Around 19 teaching and non-teaching staff are associated with the campus. Professors with master’s degrees are working at the campus, and opportunities have been provided for participation in subject-based short-term training programs.

The main teaching method at the campus is the lecture method. Along with lectures, the campus uses question-answer sessions, discussion, group work, project work, observation, educational tours, and mixed methods according to the nature of the subject and available resources. Teaching and learning through multimedia has also started.

Teaching is conducted through both Nepali and English languages. Students studying through different mediums are taught in the same classroom.

The campus follows TU’s prevailing examination and evaluation system. At bachelor level, the annual examination system is followed. Practical evaluation activities include practice teaching, project work, and educational tours according to subject and curriculum requirements.

Infrastructure and Learning Facilities

• The campus initially used the physical infrastructure of Shikhar Secondary School, Ramghat, Surkhet.

• From Bhadra 2074, classes were conducted in two buildings of the service center with authorization and permission from Bheriganga Municipality.

• One ropani of land at the service center in Bheriganga Municipality-11 is registered in the name of the campus.

• Physical infrastructure worth around Rs. 36,500,000 was prepared with support from Bheriganga Municipality, UGC, the federal government, the Karnali Province government, and various government bodies.

• The earlier infrastructure was handed over to Mid-Western University for the Central Campus of Agricultural Science and the Dean’s Office.

• New physical infrastructure for Himshikhar Multiple Campus is being constructed on municipal land near the service center in Bheriganga Municipality-11.

• Construction support includes Rs. 5,000,000 from UGC and Rs. 3,500,000 from Bheriganga Municipality in fiscal year 2079/080, and Rs. 5,000,000 from Bheriganga Municipality in fiscal year 2080/081.

• The campus has identified the need for more educational materials, computers, and subject-specific equipment, especially for health and physical education and research-related learning.

Student Life and Campus Experience
