Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) at Prativa Business School, Pokhara

The Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) at Prativa Business School is a four-year undergraduate program affiliated with Kathmandu University.

The program is offered full-time on campus at Pokhara-4, Gairapatan, Kaski, with 30 seats. Its eight-semester curriculum combines programming, information systems, mathematics, software development, networking, databases, cloud computing, management subjects, semester projects, electives, and an internship.

Admission follows Kathmandu University’s KUCAT-CBT process, and applicants must meet the prescribed academic and subject requirements for entry into the BIT program.

BIT Program Overview

BIT at Prativa Business School covers computing from introductory programming and digital logic through software engineering, databases, networking, web and mobile development, cloud computing, information security, artificial intelligence, and related areas.

The academic structure also includes mathematics, communication, management subjects, research work, electives, semester projects, and an internship. Project courses run from the first through the seventh semester, while the eighth semester includes an internship.

Students study the program at the PBS campus in Gairapatan within Pokhara Metropolitan City.

Eligibility for BIT Admission

Applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

• Completion of 10+2 or equivalent from the science stream.

• Minimum aggregate GPA of 2.0 or at least 50% aggregate marks.

• Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), or Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science (PMCs), in both Grades XI and XII or equivalent.

• Successful completion of the entrance examination required by Kathmandu University.

A student from another +2 stream is eligible only when the required PCM or PMCs subject combination has been studied in both Grades XI and XII.

Admission Process

Admission to BIT at Prativa Business School follows Kathmandu University’s entrance system.

1. Applicants register through Kathmandu University’s admission system.

2. BIT applicants appear for the Kathmandu University Common Admission Test in computer-based format (KUCAT-CBT).

3. BIT candidates take the test under the PCM group.

4. KU publishes the CBT rank list and subsequent program-wise rank lists.

5. Admission is completed according to the applicable rank list and admission instructions.

This structure places the university entrance examination and ranking process before enrollment at the college.

BIT Curriculum

The curriculum is organized across eight semesters.

The sequence moves from computing and mathematical foundations into software, systems, networking, application development, data-related subjects, management, research, electives, and practical work.

Projects and Internship

Project work is present in the first seven semesters, beginning with Semester Project I and continuing through Project-VII. This gives students repeated academic project components alongside regular coursework.

The final semester includes an internship together with Digital Economy and Elective-III. The curriculum therefore combines classroom subjects, project work, elective study, research exposure, and an internship within the four-year program.

Scholarships and Financial Support

Prativa Business School provides merit-based fee waivers linked to strong entrance-examination performance and need-based financial assistance for students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Kathmandu University’s School of Engineering also has an undergraduate scholarship scheme for meritorious and economically weak students. The scheme provides one full or partial scholarship, equivalent to the fee of one student, for every 30 fee-paying students. Continuation is subject to annual academic review, including a minimum total GPA of 3.0 and the stated academic and disciplinary conditions.

KU’s School of Engineering educational loan scheme can cover 25% to 50% of university fees for selected students, depending on the availability of funds and the applicable university conditions.
