The first year establishes the mathematical, scientific and programming base needed for later computer science study. Semester I includes Mathematics-I, Physics, Technical Communication English, Computer Concept and Programming, and Digital Logic. Semester II continues with Mathematics-II, Object Oriented Programming in C++, Discrete Structure, Statistics-I, and Microprocessor and Microcontroller.
The middle semesters move into core computer science subjects such as computer architecture, data structures, algorithms, databases, operating systems, Java programming and web technology.
By the later semesters, students study areas including software engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, data mining and research methodology.
| Semester | Main Areas of Study |
|---|---|
| I | Mathematics, Physics, Communication, Programming, Digital Logic |
| II | Mathematics, C++, Discrete Structure, Statistics, Microprocessor |
| III | Computer Architecture, Data Structures, Numerical Methods, Statistics, DBMS |
| IV | Computer Graphics, Operating Systems, System Analysis, Java, Web Technology |
| V | Python, Theory of Computation, Networks, Algorithms, Elective-I, Project-I |
| VI | Software Engineering, Network Security, AI, Simulation, Research Methodology, Elective-II |
| VII | Compiler Design, Cloud Computing, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Elective-III, Project-II |
| VIII | IT Ethics, IT Entrepreneurship, Elective-IV, Internship, Research Seminar |
The seventh semester also includes Constitution of Nepal and Eastern Philosophy as a compulsory non-credit course.
Programming begins early in the degree and continues through several semesters. Students encounter programming concepts through introductory programming, C++, Java and Python.
System-related courses include Digital Logic, Microprocessor and Microcontroller, Computer Organization and Architecture, Operating Systems and Computer Networks. Database Management Systems introduces structured data management, while later study extends into Data Warehousing and Data Mining.
Students also study Computer Graphics, Web Technology, Software Engineering and Analysis and Design of Algorithm. Together, these subjects cover both theoretical computing and application-oriented work.
The later semesters include several areas that have become important within computer science study.
Artificial Intelligence is included in Semester VI, followed by Machine Learning in Semester VII. Cryptography and Network Security addresses the security side of computing, while Distributed and Cloud Computing introduces cloud and distributed systems.
Elective choices expand these areas further. Depending on the elective group, students may study Data Analytics and Visualization, Mobile Application Development, Wireless Communication and Networking, Neural Network, Embedded System, Internet of Things, Natural Language Processing or Software Quality Assurance.
Elective availability depends on student interest and the facilities available at the campus. The curriculum specifies that at least 50 percent of enrolled students must be interested in an elective for it to be applied.
Practical academic work becomes more prominent as students progress through the course.
Project-I is included in the fifth semester and carries 3 credit hours. Project-II appears in the seventh semester with 6 credit hours. These projects give students structured opportunities to apply knowledge developed through programming, algorithms, databases, software engineering and related subjects.
The eighth semester includes a 6-credit internship and a 2-credit Research Seminar. The final stage of the degree therefore combines workplace exposure with academic research activity.
Laboratory-based subjects also require practical hours alongside lectures. This makes access to computer labs and regular hands-on work an important part of the BSc CSIT study pattern.
Eligibility: Applicants must have completed higher secondary education (+2) in the Science stream with Mathematics.
Admission: Admission is based on an entrance examination and academic merit.
The program is therefore intended for students entering from a science background who are prepared to study mathematics, programming, computing systems and analytical subjects across eight semesters.
Students looking for a computer application program with eligibility from a broader range of +2 streams may also review the BCA at Mount Everest International College.
Mount Everest International College provides computer laboratories, high-speed internet access, a library and device-equipped classrooms. These resources support programming practice, laboratory work, projects and other technical coursework.
Students also have access to mentorship, career counseling, internship assistance and professional soft-skills development. Technology-focused activities include coding clubs, tech communities, hackathons and innovation events.
Separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, transportation services, canteen facilities and extracurricular activities are also part of the Golbazar campus.
The BSc CSIT curriculum prepares students for further academic or professional development in computing-related areas. Possible fields include:
Actual career direction depends on the student's technical skills, project experience, internship exposure and further specialization.
