Tribhuvan University’s four-year B.Ed. is an academic and professional program structured to prepare students for subject teaching at the secondary level. Students study one specialization as a major area and another as a minor area, alongside compulsory communication and professional education courses.
The curriculum covers educational foundations, psychology, curriculum, evaluation, instructional technology, information and communication technology, subject teaching methods, and classroom practice. Students must also meet the entry requirement attached to their chosen major specialization. For Nepali Education, applicants must have studied Nepali as a major subject carrying at least 200 marks. For English Education, applicants must have studied English or Linguistics as a major, secured at least 50 percent in General English, or obtained 50 percent in an entrance examination conducted by the concerned campus department.
Minor specialization areas are generally open regardless of the subjects studied at Grade 11 and 12 or PCL level, except for the specific science education condition stated in the curriculum.
The program includes a 100-mark teaching internship or practicum in the fourth year. This component allows students to connect educational theory, subject knowledge, lesson preparation, teaching methods, and classroom activities within a practical academic setting.
