The Diploma in Agriculture (Animal Science) is a three-year course offered at Dhading Polytechnic School in Gajuri-01. It is approved by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and designed for students who want to build practical skills in livestock care and veterinary support. The program enrolls 40 students annually, including four scholarship recipients.
The course is spread over six semesters and combines theory with practical experience. Subjects include:
Livestock nutrition and breeding
Animal anatomy and physiology
Common diseases and treatment methods
Dairy and poultry management
Farm record keeping and health monitoring
Animal housing, sanitation, and farm safety
Train students in livestock handling and healthcare
Build skills for self-employment or job placement in the animal science field
Improve local agricultural productivity through better livestock practices
Graduates can work on private farms, in veterinary clinics, livestock cooperatives, or in NGOs. The program also provides a strong foundation for further study in animal husbandry or veterinary science.
Students will be able to:
Handle and manage different types of farm animals
Identify and respond to signs of common diseases
Assist with basic veterinary procedures
Plan feeding and breeding programs for livestock
Hands-on sessions include:
Routine animal care and health checks
Livestock vaccination techniques
Feed mixing and ration planning
Cleaning and maintenance of animal sheds
Record keeping and farm report writing
Teaching combines class lessons, lab work, and on-site learning. Students also participate in field visits and internships, which allow them to observe and practice what they learn in real settings.
To be eligible, students must:
Have passed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE)
Pass the CTEVT-administered entrance exam

Entrepreneur in livestock farming
Four scholarships are available each year for students from underprivileged or low-income backgrounds, based on the rules of CTEVT.
