Overview
Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) is an undergraduate program offered by Kathmandu Model College (KMC) in affiliation with Tribhuvan University (TU). The program aims to equip students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for professional social work practice. The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of social problems and the role of social work in addressing them.
The program is spread over four years and comprises eight semesters. During the course of study, students are exposed to a range of courses that include theoretical perspectives of social work, human behavior and the social environment, social welfare policies, social research methods, community development, and intervention strategies.
In addition to the classroom lectures, BASW program at KMC emphasizes on practical training and fieldwork. They can work as social workers, community organizers, program managers, counselors, researchers, and advocates, among others.
