Course Structure

The One Year B.Ed. curriculum is divided into two academic components:

Duration and Academic Schedule

Duration: One academic year.

For the regular mode described in the university curriculum, an academic year includes 150 effective teaching days, excluding examination and admission days. A 100-mark course is allocated six periods per week, with 36 teaching periods across six teaching days. Seventy percent attendance in each course is compulsory under this structure.

Teaching Practice and Practicum

Practical work is a significant part of the One Year B.Ed. curriculum.

Students following the prospective teacher route complete Practice Teaching. This includes on-campus preparation followed by work in a secondary-school setting. Activities include micro-teaching, seminar work, classroom teaching, observation, lesson planning, and related professional exercises.

The Practice Teaching assessment carries 100 marks. Twenty marks are allocated to on-campus activities and 80 marks to off-campus activities, including classroom teaching, supporting activities, final classroom teaching, and a post-conference or viva.

Students following the prospective administrator route complete Practicum instead of Practice Teaching.
