The Diploma in Agriculture (Animal Science) at Madanpokhara Polytechnic Institute (MPPI), Tansen-9, Damkada, Palpa, is a three-year technical program affiliated with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). Agriculture is a key part of Nepal’s economy, so the demand for trained livestock technicians is steady. Graduates may work with animal health centers, farms, veterinary clinics, feed companies, cooperatives, or government livestock offices. Diploma holders are also increasingly interested in entrepreneurship, particularly in dairy, poultry, and goat farming. Students can continue their education in veterinary science, animal husbandry, or agriculture-related bachelor's programs.
Graduates of the program will be able to:

MPPI emphasizes hands-on practice throughout the academic year. On-campus livestock farms offer real-time exposure to cattle, goats, poultry, and pigs. Key skill modules include:
Milking techniques and dairy hygiene
Poultry shed management and vaccination schedules
Castration and artificial insemination support
Feed formulation and ration balancing
Disease diagnosis through specimen collection
Animal health campaigns and livestock census methods
These modules are reinforced through guided field tasks, practical assessments, and project reporting.
The instructional method includes lectures, lab exercises, demonstrations, and field visits. Students work in groups, participate in role plays, and are assigned duties on the MPPI farm. Instructors supervise clinical sessions and monitor student performance during OJT placements at local veterinary institutions or agriculture service centers.
Applicants must have passed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE). Admission is competitive and based on performance in the CTEVT entrance exam. Students must apply during the announced intake schedule.

MPPI offers 4 scholarship seats under this program. According to the CTEVT policy, eligible candidates from marginalized and economically challenged backgrounds are awarded scholarships. Interested students must submit the required documents during the scholarship application period.
