Course structure

Foundation and core subjects
The first year introduces students to the basic language, principles, and institutions of law. Subjects include Fundamental Principles of Jurisprudence, Fundamentals of the Nepalese Economy, Legal and Judicial History of Nepal, Outline to Sociology, Introduction to Political Thoughts, Concept of Management, and Observation Study of Justice Institutions.
The second semester includes Concepts of Law and Justice, Theories of Logic and Legal Reasoning, Nepalese Constitution, Clinical Work, and Laws of Crime I. These subjects provide a base for interpreting legal rules, examining arguments, and understanding the relationship between law, government, society, and justice.
Later semesters cover procedural law, criminal law, penology, family law, land law, housing law, human rights, constitutional law, contract law, international law, environmental law, intellectual property rights, cybercrime, and legal philosophy.
Practical and clinical learning
Practical work appears throughout the curriculum rather than being confined to the final year. Early activities include observing justice institutions and participating in street-law and legal-awareness programs.
Students later undertake interaction with lawyers and prosecutors, criminal trial advocacy, civil trial advocacy, and the drafting of criminal and civil case documents. Legal research introduces research design, doctrinal and non-doctrinal approaches, data collection, citation, and report preparation.
The final stages include clinical drafting, externship work, a dissertation, and internship and placement components. These activities connect legal study with case preparation, research, professional communication, and institutional practice.
Mega Law College also conducts moot court activities, legal research workshops, legal aid exercises, debates, judicial internships, corporate legal internships, and community legal services.
Optional subjects
The ninth semester contains optional subjects in specialised areas. These include Energy Law, Civil Aviation Law, Tourism Law, Banking Law, Insurance Law, and Taxation Law. Students study the applicable optional courses alongside Legal Philosophy and a clinical practice component.
Assessment approach
The curriculum uses both university examinations and internal examinations for most subjects. Courses carrying 100 full marks generally allocate marks between the university and internal components, while several 50-mark subjects follow the same combined assessment structure on a smaller scale.
Clinical, observational, drafting, advocacy, internship, and dissertation components add practical and research-based assessment to the written examination system.
