Program Objectives

The BBS program is designed to prepare students for managerial responsibilities in business, industry, government, and other organized sectors. It provides broad knowledge of management concepts while helping students understand how organisations operate in changing economic and business conditions.

The program aims to build conceptual knowledge of business and administration, practical ability, responsible managerial attitudes, and entrepreneurial capacity. It also provides an academic foundation for higher studies in management and related areas.

Students study compulsory subjects, core business courses, a concentration area, business research methods, and a final project. This combination gives them exposure to both general management and a selected functional area.

Eligibility for Admission

Applicants seeking admission to the BBS program must have successfully completed 10+2 in business or commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a board or university recognised by Tribhuvan University.

Applicants must also meet any additional admission criteria prescribed by the TU Faculty Board or Varidhi College.

Four-Year Course Structure

The curriculum carries 500 marks in each academic year.

First Year

The first year builds a foundation in language, statistics, economics, accounting, and management.

Teaching and Learning Methods

The BBS program uses lectures together with group discussions, problem-solving exercises, practical work, project work, guest lectures, and case-based instruction where appropriate.

Assessment and Attendance

Student evaluation is conducted through annual examinations administered by the Tribhuvan University Office of the Controller of Examinations.

Students must maintain at least 70 percent attendance in classes actually held to qualify for the annual examinations. They must pass theoretical, practical, and project components separately where these components apply.

The grading divisions used in the annual examination system are:

  • Third Division: 35 percent

  • Second Division: 45 percent

  • First Division: 60 percent

  • Distinction: 75 percent

Final Project Work

The final project is a compulsory fourth-year requirement carrying 50 marks. Students undertake fieldwork and spend four weeks studying an organisation during the period fixed by the college.

After completing the fieldwork, each student prepares a project report in the format prescribed by the Faculty of Management. The report is submitted for evaluation and may also be presented before faculty members or the class.

The project is evaluated through internal and external examination, followed by a final viva voce conducted through the concerned college research committee.

Graduation Requirements

To complete the BBS degree, students must pass 19 courses carrying 1,950 marks and submit the 50-mark final project report.

They must obtain passing grades in all required theoretical, practical, and project components. The program must also be completed within the time limit prescribed by Tribhuvan University.
