Basic ARFF-016 Training Application Notice – Civil Aviation Academy of Nepal

As per the approval of the Public Service Commission, the Civil Aviation Academy, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, operated under the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), announces open and inclusive competitive selection for the Basic Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Course (ARFF-016).

A total of 16 trainees will be selected. Qualified Nepali citizens are invited to apply online within 21 days from the publication date.

Note: Selection will follow the legal provisions outlined in the Supreme Court order dated 2079/10/24 (Writ No. 078-WO-0660).

Fees

• Application fee: NPR 200

• Examination fee: NPR 600

• Total: NPR 800

• For multiple group applications: 50% extra exam fee for each additional group

• Candidates applying only in the inclusive category must also pay the open category fee

Course Curriculum

• Available on the official website

• Can be purchased for NPR 100 if required

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

• Education: Passed SLC/SEE or equivalent from a recognized institution with minimum CGPA 2.0

• Age: Between 18 and 25 years

• Height: Minimum 5 feet 2 inches

• Chest: Minimum 32 inches (34 inches when expanded)

• Weight: Minimum 52 kg

Examination Centers and Dates

• Physical Test: To be held at the National Police Training Academy, Maharajgunj

• Written Test: Conducted by the Public Service Commission

• Dates for physical and written tests will be published later by the respective authorities

• Candidates who pass the written test must submit a fitness certificate from a recognized medical institution confirming they are physically and mentally fit

Training Duration

• 14 weeks

Required Documents

• Passport-sized photo

• Copy of Nepali citizenship certificate

• Transcript of minimum academic qualification

• Character certificate

• For those with foreign academic qualifications: an equivalency certificate issued by the Examination Control Office

Inclusive Category Documents

• Indigenous Nationalities: Proof of caste listed under the National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities Act. If multiple surnames exist, caste verification from the concerned commission or the district administration office

• Madhesi: Verification from the designated institution or the concerned authority, as published in Nepal Gazette

• Persons with Disabilities: Disability ID card issued by the Social Welfare Council or local authority per Section 4(3) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2074

• Backward Region: Citizenship from designated districts as per CAAN rules and residence proof from the local authority within 3 months of the application date

Special Conditions

• Incomplete or late applications will not be processed

• If discrepancies in personal details or missing family lineage verification exist, the application will be rejected

• Only those passing the Physical Measurement will proceed to the Physical Efficiency Test

• Only those passing the Physical Efficiency Test can take the written exam

• Open and inclusive category exams will be conducted jointly in a single sitting

• If the last date falls on a public holiday, the application will be accepted on the next working day (for regular fee only; not applicable for double fee)

• Candidates with the following will be disqualified:

  • Color vision deficiency

  • Hearing impairment

  • Tremors or visible physical deformities

  • Spinal or joint deformities

  • Baldness, excessive tattoos, and abnormal scars

  • Drug addiction or other medically unfit conditions

Refund Policy

• Exam fees will be refunded only if the exam is canceled

• Fees will not be refunded for rejected applications

Placement after Training

• Trainees who complete training successfully may be appointed as per legal provisions in vacant posts under CAAN

• Initial deployment will be in civil aviation offices located outside the Kathmandu Valley for a minimum of two years
