Devghat Shatachandi Mahayagya and Magh Mahotsav

Preparations have been completed for the Shatachandi Mahayagya and Devghat Magh Mahotsav, which is set to take place at Devghatdham, a confluence point of the Tanahun, Chitwan, and Nawalpur districts and a well-known pilgrimage site for Hindu devotees.
The religious festival will be held from Magh 19 to 29 in Devghat Rural Municipality-5, Tanahun, at the Ram Ram Temple, under the organization of the temple and the resolve of renowned Bhagwat narrator Acharya Sheetal Krishna.
Religious Belief and Purpose of the Mahayagya
At the confluence (Beni Sangam) of the Trishuli and Kaligandaki rivers, which is regarded as a sacred land of sages’ austerities, there is a long-standing religious belief that bathing during the month of Magh brings imperishable merit (Akshaya Punya) and liberation (Moksha).
According to the organizer, the 10-day Mahayagya has been arranged to highlight the extraordinary spiritual significance of Devghat to the world and to invite devotees for Makar Snan.
Key Arrangements at the Venue
According to Mahayagya coordinator Acharya Sheetal Krishna, devotees will be able to perform special worship at the Ram Ram Temple, which is also known as the Durga Panchayan Temple, where a dhuni (continuous sacred fire) has been burning uninterrupted for the past 40 years.
A special arrangement has been made this time to allow devotees to perform charu havan using charu brought from their own homes.
For the Mahayagya, a large pandal has been completed on the Chitwan side along the Trishuli riverbank, while the charu havan will be managed to take place on the Tanahun side within the Ram Ram Temple primises.
Story Recitation and Objectives of the Ritual
This Mahayagya, to be conducted in support of the restoration of the Ram Temple, will feature musical narration of the Bhagwat Katha by world-renowned Bhagwat narrator Devi Pratibha and Sheetal Krishna Maharaj.
The physical and managerial preparations for this ritual, organized with the resolve of national peace, social prosperity, and human welfare, have been completed.
Expected Participation and Management
A large number of devotees are expected to participate from various districts of Nepal, as well as from neighboring India.
The organizer stated that sufficient volunteers have been mobilized to keep the program dignified, safe, and well-managed, and that all arrangements have been made with the convenience of devotees coming for Makar Snan in mind.
The organizer has called on all religious devotees to participate and gain merit.
