Nepal Academy of Fine Arts Begins Lumbini Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition

Butwal, Magh 18, 2082 — The “Lumbini Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition” has started at the school premises under the organization of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and the co-organization of the Nepal Professional Artists Association, Rupandehi, and Kalika Manavgyan Secondary School.
The exhibition, which began on Saturday, was jointly inaugurated by Academy Chancellor Nardamani Hartamchhali and Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Khelraj Pandey.
Chancellor Hartamchhali stated that fine arts have special importance for culture, peacebuilding, and social development, alongside the material development of the nation and society.
He pointed out the need to uplift the essence of art in Nepal from the grassroots and informed that the provincial fine arts exhibition has been organized with the objective of helping people understand local life.
Mayor Pandey emphasized that Butwal should be developed as a main commercial hub and a historical area with strong potential, and said that artists should present these themes through art.
He expressed the municipality’s commitment to provide necessary support and coordination to conduct such activities.
Dineshwar Mahato, Head of the Academy’s Sculpture Department and Coordinator of the Lumbini Province Coordination Committee, stressed that provincial and local governments should play a leading role in the development and promotion of fine arts in their respective areas.
He informed that the exhibition includes artworks reflecting Lumbini Province’s art, culture, tourism promotion, and various aspects of public life.
Similarly, speakers including Head of the Academy’s Contemporary Painting Department Sanjay Bantawa, Academic Council Member Jupiter Pradhan, Assistant Principal of Kalika Manabgyan Secondary School Pitambar Banjade, and artist H. V. Ramtel shared their views.
The welcome address was delivered by Dilip Rasali, Chairperson of the Nepal Professional Artists Association, Rupandehi, and the program was moderated by Janga Pahadi.
The exhibition features more than 150 artworks by 115 artists in contemporary painting, sculpture, craft and handicrafts, architecture and folk art, multidimensional works, and other creative art forms.
The art exhibition, promoted by the Nepal Tourism Board, will run until Magh 21, 2082.
