Gita Jayanti 2082 Discussion and Yoga Camp

On the occasion of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Jayanti 2082, a programme of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita discussion, yoga camp and honours for Gita knowledge practitioners is going to be organised.

The programme is being organised on Mangshir 13 by the “Gita for Life” campaign of Jeevanka Lagi Gita Gyan Abhiyan Nepal, according to the campaign’s international coordinator, Kedar Basnet.

Background of the Gita for Life Campaign

According to Basnet, Professor Harichandra Kamali from Dhangadhi initiated the campaign after realising that the Gita is not only a text to be recited in full, offered with fruits and used solely as a scripture for recitation, but is in fact a science of life.

He said that, by involving Gita-related experts and scholars from the Sanskrit University in this campaign, efforts have been made for some years to learn through this initiative and to apply that understanding in daily life via Zoom.

Speech Competition and Plans for Gita Jayanti

Basnet said, “Last year, a speech competition related to Shrimad Bhagavat was also organised. In that competition, Aanchal Basyal was the winner.”

He further stated that the competition will again be organised on the occasion of Gita Jayanti. On that occasion, those who have studied the Gita and have been involved in the campaign have been invited, and it has been decided to honour those above 70 years of age and those interested in Gita-related campaigns by presenting them with a copy of the Gita.

Chief Guests and Organising Team

Founding coordinator of the programme, Dr Harichandra Kamali, said that the chief guests of the programme will be Dr Keshavananda Swami and Devendra Kashyam, Principal of the Gita Gyan Pathshala.

The programme’s national coordinator is Acharya Surendra Ojha, the chief adviser is Dr Chintamani Nath Yogi, and the programme coordinator is Sudeep Paudel.

Free Five-Day Integrated Yoga Practice

Coordinator Kamali stated that, in the same programme, a five-day free integrated yoga practice camp will also be organised.
