Hult Prize at the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Pulchowk Campus, successfully concluded its second talk series on “Design Thinking and Human-Centered Innovation.”
Held on Monday at Embark College in collaboration with Hima Aus Offshore, the workshop saw active participation from students and social entrepreneurs. Participants received training focused on innovation that places human sensitivity and needs at the center.
Key Speaker and Session Focus
The program featured Samaya Khadka, CEO of Sharing Opportunities and a leading figure in youth empowerment, as the main speaker. Khadka, who has been working as a trainer and facilitator for the past eight years, shared insights on the principles of design thinking and user-centered innovation.
He also shared his experience as a co-founder of Covid Connect Nepal and his ongoing work connecting young people with opportunities. He has previously conducted more than 40 design thinking sessions at international institutions such as MIT.
What Participants Learned
During the interactive session, participants gained practical knowledge on how to identify real community needs and develop solution approaches. The session included focused discussion on how design grounded in human needs can transform a simple idea into an effective social enterprise.
Participants were also taught skills on how to refine concepts by incorporating the experiences of target users.
