Phidim to Host First “Indigenous Food Festival”
For the first time, a “Local Food Festival” will be organized in Phidim, the district headquarters of Panchthar. The Nepal Magar Association, District Committee Panchthar, is organizing the food festival on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti.
The organizing Nepal Magar Association informed on Wednesday, through a press conference, that preparations for the festival have been intensified. Nepal Magar Association Panchthar Chairperson Yauvan Kumar Thapa Magar stated that the festival will be organized with the slogan, “Promotion of indigenous food, promotion of internal and external tourism.”
Indigenous Food Stalls and Cultural Programs
The festival will feature stalls of indigenous dishes based on the cultures of more than 12 Indigenous nationalities, including Magar, Rai, Limbu, Tamang, and Newar.
The organizers are also preparing to conduct cultural programs, including processions and displays.
Local Support and Expected Impact
The festival is being organized with the promotion of Phidim Municipality. The organizers believe the program will highlight the district’s cultural diversity and make a positive contribution to the promotion of local tourism.
