Three-Day Madhesh Literature Festival to Be Held in Birgunj

A three-day Madhesh Literature Festival will be held in Birgunj starting Magh 15, 2082 BS.
Organizing संस्था Utkarsh Nepal stated at a press conference on Tuesday that it will organize the festival in Birgunj from Magh 15, 2082 BS, under the chief guestship of Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav.
At the press conference, the organizers said all preparations have been completed. The festival is being organized with the objective of linking Madhesh’s diverse identities, languages, literature, art, and culture, and establishing it as a shared cultural movement.
The festival will be held on Magh 15, 16, and 17, 2082 BS at the premises of Madhesh University in Birgunj. The opening session on the first day will be held under the chairmanship of Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor and patron Rajeshman Singh, with Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav as the chief guest.
The organizers said that, in other sessions, expert speakers will present views on topics including village youth, migration and alternatives, village, democracy and power, and village memory and history.
On the second day, discussions are scheduled on education, health and equality; village struggle and structure; village development and destruction; and village news. On the third day, sessions are planned on “village becoming city and city becoming village,” and a session on village themes in Bhojpuri literature, as informed at the press conference.
The organizers said the closing ceremony will be held under the chairmanship of Madhesh Province Governor Surendra Labhakarna and Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Rajeshman Singh, and will also feature musical performances by local artists, including Kalpana Patwari.
