New Diamond Wins 9th Sher Bahadur Khadka Cup

New Diamond Crowned Champions, Remaining Unbeaten

New Diamond Youth Sports Club remained unbeaten and became champions of the KNP Nerolac 9th Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial National Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

This is New Diamond’s second title in this tournament. New Diamond had first won the title in the seventh edition.

Final Result

In the final held at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall in Tripureshwor, New Diamond defeated the defending champions Nepal Police 25–22, 25–18, 15–25, and 27–25. New Diamond’s Pragati Nath was declared “Player of the Match.”

Round League Performance and Second Title in a Week

In the round league, New Diamond defeated:

  • Nepal Army 3–0

  • APF 3–2

  • Nepal Police 3–2

This is New Diamond’s second title within a week. Earlier, New Diamond had also won the NVA Volleyball title by defeating Nepal Police.

APF Finish Third

The tournament was organized by the Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation, Balkot, with main sponsorship from the multinational paint company KNP Nerolac. APF, the champions of the first six editions, finished third.

In the third-place match, APF defeated Army in straight sets:

  • 25–13

  • 25–23

  • 25–18

APF’s Mina Sunar was named “Player of the Match.”

Prize Money

  • Champions: NPR 500,000

  • Runners-up: NPR 250,000

  • Third place: NPR 125,000

The first prize was sponsored by Life Insurance Corporation Nepal Limited, the second prize by Marvel Technoplast Pvt. Ltd., and the third prize by Fitness Choice.

Individual Awards

New Diamond’s Pratibha Mali was selected as the best player. She received a trophy and NPR 50,000 cash sponsored by HiLife.

  • Best Blocker: Sumitra Regmi (New Diamond)

  • Best Setter: Pragati Nath (New Diamond)

  • Best Libero: Shantikala Tamang (Nepal Police)

  • Best Server: Poonam Chand (Nepal Police)

  • Best Coach: Kumar Rai (New Diamond)

The organizers stated that Barahi Hotel and Sarangkot Mountain Lodge will also provide gift hampers to the award recipients.

Each match’s “Player of the Match” received NPR 15,000 cash.
