The ninth edition of the festival has begun in Waling, Syangja, starting Wednesday. The Gandaki Province-level festival has started at the sports ground in Waling under the slogan, “Our pride, our honor; Waling Mahotsav is our identity.”
The festival was inaugurated by Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. According to Chet Narayan Shrestha, President of the organizing Waling Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the festival includes stalls across multiple categories, including agriculture and handicrafts, service and industrial, and trade.
More than 40 stalls have been made available free of charge for agriculture, agricultural tools, and handicrafts, while local traders have been provided a 30 percent discount.
Pitambar Khanal, Secretary of the association and Coordinator of the Publicity Committee, said the festival is projected to generate income of 1 crore 68 lakh, with expenses estimated at 1 crore 14 lakh 51 thousand. According to him, a savings of 53 lakh 49 thousand is expected.
Khanal said the ninth Waling Mahotsav has set a target of 10 crore in short-term transactions and aims to attract 3 lakh visitors. The festival is considered excellent within Gandaki Province. The association said the festival will run for 12 days, until Magh 25.
