Second National Conference on Cybersecurity and Cyber Fraud Prevention to Be Held in Kathmandu

Kathmandu | Magh — Kathmandu Fintech and PCI SSC will jointly organize the second national conference on cybersecurity and cyber fraud prevention in Kathmandu on Magh 14.

The conference is being organized in view of the rapidly increasing cyber risks and fraud incidents in the banking, financial institution, and fintech sectors. National and internationally recognized experts will present their experiences and suggestions on cybersecurity, fraud control, and risk management.

Key Speaker

The keynote speaker will be Deepak Kumar, Head of the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), a banking technology, cybersecurity, and research training center established under the leadership of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He will deliver a special address on cybersecurity in the banking sector, KYC systems, and digital risk management.

Focus of the Conference

The main focus of the program will be on measures to protect customers of banks and financial institutions from cyber fraud. The notice states that Nepal has already seen cyber fraud incidents worth billions of rupees, and the number and complexity of such crimes are increasing.

It also mentions that several incidents have been made public in which unauthorized access was gained to customers’ accounts through various forms of deception and money was stolen.

Case Experience from HDFC Bank (India)

A special presentation will be made on the successful experience of HDFC Bank (India) in preventing cyber fraud. The campaign was led by banker Manish Agrawal, who will share effective strategies, practical measures, and real case experiences to protect banks and customers from cyber fraud.

He will also present his experience of successfully deactivating mule accounts.

Additional Expert Sessions

Krishna Shastri, a member of the Reserve Bank of India’s permanent cybersecurity committee, an Interpol trainer, and a cyber partner at Ernst & Young, will present on cyber risks, international practices, and regulatory perspectives.

The conference will also include a presentation by experts from Visa, and senior bankers, cybersecurity professionals, and experts from Nepal’s banking sector will participate actively.
