‘Strengthening Social Development Practice in Nepal’ Project Starts at Purwanchal University
A project titled “Strengthening Social Development Practice in Nepal” has started at Purwanchal University to build the capacity of social development students.
Supported by the European Union and implemented in collaboration with the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic) and Spain’s National Distance Education University, the project has been reported to be operating from January 2026 through 2028.
Key Objectives and Targets
The project will develop 30 social work professors as trainers. It has been stated that the trained trainers will work in coordination with various social organizations.
Operating simultaneously at Purwanchal University, Tribhuvan University, and Mid-West University, the project aims to enhance the capacity of 600 social development students across Nepal.
Discussions and Field Observation Plan
Resource persons Professor Dr. Antino Lopez and Dr. Inesh Martinez held discussions with social work students and professors in coordination with Purwanchal University on Magh 12.
Similarly, on Magh 13, they held discussions with graduates working in the field of social work, along with representatives from government and non-government organizations.
A field observation visit is also planned to Biratnagar-based Bal Sudhar Griha, Sivin Nepal, and Richmond Fellowship.
