World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting to Be Held in Shanghai in July

China is preparing to hold the World Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference 2026 and a high-level meeting on global AI governance in Shanghai in July 2026, a Chinese official said on Wednesday.

Zhou Haibing, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission, told a press conference that China wants to take this conference as an opportunity to further strengthen international cooperation on AI with all parties.

According to Zhou, AI will have a major impact on the future of humanity, making it a common issue faced by all countries. China said it supports the principles of multilateralism, openness, and inclusiveness and will contribute to global development in the AI era with modern Chinese solutions.

He said China will coordinate efforts related to development and security, actively put multilateralism into practice, and support the principle of people-centered AI development.
