Overview

Raghuganga Hydropower Limited (RGHPL) was established with an aim of power generation of 40 MW in Raghuganga Rural Municipality, Gandaki Province of Myagdi District. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) owns cent percent share of this project.

The project is located between the Latitudes 28°22’21” to 28°25’45” N and the Longitudes 83˚31’13” to 83˚34’35”E in Gandaki Provine of Myagdi District.  The major components of the Project lie on the left bank of Rahughat Khola. Rahughat is one of the major tributaries of the Kaligandaki River that flows from west to east to meet the Kaligandaki River at Galeshwor.

The design discharge will be diverted at the headworks in a 6.270 km headrace tunnel to generate 40 MW of power in the powerhouse located on the right bank of the Kaligandaki River at Galeshwor.

The headworks of Raghuganga Hydropower Limited (RGHPL) are located about 1.2 km upstream from the existing suspension bridge that connects the former Piple VDC and Jhi VDC.

The proposed headrace tunnel runs along the left bank of Rahughat Khola through Mauwaphat and Piple villages. The surge shaft is located at Piple village and the surface powerhouse lies about 300 m upstream from the confluence of Rahughat Khola and Kaligandaki River on the Beni-Jomsom Highway.
