Applications submitted by 188 candidates for the appointment of vice-chancellors in eight different universities have been approved. The Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) made public the list of approved applicants on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry, a total of 218 people had applied for the posts of vice-chancellor in eight universities. Of them, 30 applications were rejected for various reasons. The Ministry stated that applications were rejected due to incomplete required documents and failure to meet other prescribed qualifications.
Earlier, applications had been submitted by 50 candidates for Tribhuvan University, 38 for Purbanchal University, 38 for Pokhara University, 19 for Sudurpashchim University, 20 for Mid-West University, 11 for Lumbini Buddhist University, 15 for Agriculture and Forestry University, and 27 for Rajarshi Janak University.
Among the approved applicants, 43 are for Tribhuvan University, 34 for Purbanchal University, 33 for Pokhara University, 18 for Sudurpashchim University, 19 for Mid-West University, 13 for Agriculture and Forestry University, and seven for Lumbini Buddhist University. The number of approved applicants for Rajarshi Janak University is not clearly mentioned in the available text; this appears to require confirmation from the Ministry’s official list.
A shortlist will now be published from among the approved applicants. New vice-chancellors are being selected through competition after the vice-chancellors of the universities were relieved of their posts through an ordinance.
