31 Community Schools Without Students in Parbat
Increasing migration and the search for quality education have left villages empty, resulting in 31 community schools in Parbat without any students. These schools are located across all seven municipalities and rural municipalities of the district.
Most of the schools with zero students are at the basic and primary levels. Even though some have had no students for a long time, the process of school adjustment has not yet begun. Parbat has a total of 272 community schools, among which one secondary-level school also has no students.

Lack of Action from Local Governments
Despite the total reaching 31 student-free schools, local governments in Parbat have shown no interest in adjusting them, said local resident Dharma Poudel from Phalebas.
Teachers are still placed in these schools without students and continue to receive salaries and benefits. This leads to misuse of state budget, but according to Ganga Narayan Shrestha, Ward Chairperson of Thapathana, Phalebas-2, the situation forces them to retain the teachers.
Although there are currently no students, it is understood that schools have not been merged in the hope that students may enroll in the future. Instead of transferring teachers, elected representatives are reportedly providing political protection to empty schools. Some have admitted that schools are not being adjusted because contract teachers, relief teachers, and office assistants would lose their jobs.
