Mid-day meal program in Nepal

The Nepalese government initiated the mid-day meal program in public schools in the Karnali province, which has been running for the last three years. It provides lunch to students at the rate of Rs. 15 per student per day. With the support of the China Foundation for Rural Development Nepal, the program has been implemented in ten community schools within the Kathmandu metropolitan area. More than 10 thousand students are benefiting from this program, which provides 150 milliliters of milk along with nutritious snacks.

Efforts by Kathmandu Metropolitan City

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has been distributing bags, cleaning materials, and warm clothes to various public schools in Kampa. The organization has also been contributing Rs.10 per student to the amount provided by the government, thereby enabling the program to provide lunch from the current year to Class VIII.

Overall, the mid-day meal program in Nepal is a significant initiative aimed at addressing hunger among primary level children from poor backgrounds in developing countries. With the support of various organizations, including the China Foundation for Rural Development Nepal and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, this program has been successful in providing nutritious meals to thousands of students in Nepal. It is a step towards ensuring that every child in Nepal receives the essential nutrients they need to learn and grow.
