Deurali Secondary School Becomes a Digital School
Deurali Secondary School in Bardibas Municipality–1, Mahottari, has taken a big step toward modern education by declaring itself a Digital School. The announcement was made on Sunday in a special ceremony where Mayor Pralhad Kumar Kshatri expressed hope that this initiative would give students greater access to the latest technology and inspire other schools across the region.
“In Madhesh, community schools are often seen as providing limited education,” Mayor Kshatri shared. “This move will send a strong, positive message throughout the region.”
During the event, Mayor Kshatri also inaugurated newly installed digital boards in every classroom, marking the beginning of a new learning experience for students.
Students and Programs
The school currently educates around 1,200 students from early childhood up to Grade 12. In addition, about 200 students are enrolled in technical diploma programs in Civil Engineering, Survey (Mapping) Engineering, and Forestry, offered under the affiliation of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
Principal Kumar Ghimire said that every class will now run using a digital learning system.
“From now on, teachers will conduct all lessons through digital technology,” he explained. “All of our teachers are well-trained for this shift.”
He also highlighted a key benefit of the new system — students can revisit lessons later if they miss or struggle with any topic, making learning more flexible and supportive.
Teachers and Resources
The school currently has 26 staff members, including permanent, temporary, relief, early childhood development, and municipal teachers. Principal Ghimire noted that although the number of students in the secondary level has grown, there are still only two teachers handling this level, underscoring the need for more teaching staff to match the increasing demand.
