Dr. Ramesh Shubhechchhu Honoured in Makwanpur
Hetauda — Literary figure Dr. Ramesh Shubhechchhu has been honoured in Makwanpur.
The award was presented by Jharna Sahityik Parivar, a leading literary institution active in Bakaiya, Makwanpur.
Homanath–Tikamaya Pratibha Samman
Dr. Shubhechchhu was honoured with the Homanath–Tikamaya Pratibha Samman.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 21,121, which is considered one of the institution’s prestigious awards.
The citation states that the honour was conferred in recognition of his contributions to creative writing, review, editing, and institutional development.
Bakaiya Rural Municipality Chair Dharmaraj Lamichhane presented the award and the certificate of honour.
Remarks by the Award Recipient
Speaking at the programme, Dr. Shubhechchhu said that getting the opportunity to engage in creative work matters more in life than honours and awards.
He said, “I will strive to protect the dignity of this award and to become even more deserving.”
Other Honours Presented at the Festival
Along with Dr. Shubhechchhu, 11 creators from various fields were also honoured with cash awards.
The honours were presented on the occasion of the institution’s 323rd Literary Series, its 33rd anniversary, and the 7th Bakaiya Art–Literature Festival, which ran for two days.
According to the institution’s Chair, Gayatri Rupakheti, creators who contributed to literature, art, and journalism were honoured during the festival.

Painting Competition Winners
In the painting competition held during the festival, Mihajul Thokkar, Risha Dong, and Prasiddha Rai secured places among the top three.
Shanti Negi, Ritu Bik, and Indrakumari Syangbo were also declared outstanding and awarded.
Participation and Cultural Programme
Creators from districts including Sarlahi, Bara, Rautahat, Sindhuli, Chitwan, Lamjung, and Rupandehi participated in the festival.
On the occasion, Dr. Vishwanath Sanjel, Vijay Dong, DB Bartoula, Dhanmaya Rai, Sumitra Acharya, Hariprasad Poudel, and Keshav Samarpan, among others, recited their works.
Senior folk singer Nandakrishna Joshi presented folk tunes from Sudurpaschim, and cultural tableaux reflecting various ethnicities and cultures were also performed.
