Science Laboratory Facilitates Practical Learning in Jumla

Sinja (Jumla), Poush 7 — The science laboratory established at Kalika Secondary School in Badki of Hima Rural Municipality–1 has made it easier for students to learn through practical work. The school stated that learning has become more effective as students get to practice science-related lessons through the laboratory.

Principal Khambabahadur Shahi said that the materials available in the science laboratory have helped students with hands-on practice. The science laboratory was established at the school under the Sashakta Balika Project, operated with the support of Plan International Nepal and in partnership with PES Nepal Jumla.

A timetable has been prepared to provide regular practical sessions to students from Grades 8 to 10. Student Dhubresnath Yogi said he was happy to get the opportunity to practice in the laboratory and noted that practical learning has made it easier to understand science.

Kishor Naupane, Executive Director of PES Nepal Jumla, informed that along with the science laboratory established at an approximate cost of NPR 500,000, support was also provided for a print-rich classroom and for student accommodation arrangements at the school.

According to him, after the operation of the accommodation arrangements and the print-rich classroom, student attendance has also increased. The science materials available in the laboratory have helped students carry out practical work more effectively than in the classroom.
