KMC Ward 26 Builds Computer Labs for Two City Schools

KMC Ward 26 Provides Computer Labs to Two Schools

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC - Kathmandu Mahanagarpalika) Ward No. 26 has constructed computer labs for Shanti Vidyagriha Secondary School, Lainchaur, and Lokhit Basic School, Thamel.

After building labs with 32 computers and 10 computers respectively, Ward Chairperson Khyamraj Tiwari, who is also the Coordinator of the Metropolitan City’s Good Governance Committee, handed them over on Friday.

Budget and Procurement Details

For this purpose, the ward had allocated 4 million rupees.

Through the public procurement process, computers were purchased for 2,776,200 rupees (excluding tax) and the labs were established.

The ward had handed over 20 digital boards of 65 inches to Shanti Vidyagriha last year. Through the public procurement process, those boards were obtained for 4,359,540 rupees.

Ward Chairperson’s Statement

While handing over the lab, Ward Chairperson Tiwari said:

“We have increased investment in infrastructure, materials and equipment, and technology to improve the results of community schools. In Shanti Vidyagriha, the ward has moved forward with the procurement process for building construction. The investments we have made are for improving results. Schools must demonstrate this support through results.”

Views from Stakeholders

The ward’s programs introduced in schools for educational quality development are positive.

Former Ward Chairperson Barsharam Bhandari said:

“My understanding is that the ward’s programs have the capacity to address future needs as well.”

Ward Secretary Kedar Rimal said that the ward has invested to produce competitive human resources by considering changing local needs and the global context.

School’s Commitment

After receiving the lab materials, Shanti Vidyagriha Principal Bishnuprasad Dhakal expressed a commitment to make maximum use of the resources received for teaching and learning.
